Accepting Applicants for Proposal Submission

Compass Government Solutions is seeking a Release of Information Clerk to provide services to the 10th Medical Group at USAFA - Air Force Academy in Colorado. The PELBO Assistant provides administrative support for the Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) program, Disability Evaluation System (DES), Temporary Disability Retirement Listings (TDRL) and TRICARE Operations Patient Administration service.

This opportunity is part of a proposal effort. We are currently accepting applications from experienced candidates to be considered if the contract is awarded. Incumbents are encouraged to apply.

Job Duties:

  • Processes release of information requests in accordance policy and directives.
  • Maintains logs as required.
  • Locates and extracts pertinent information from medical files. Locates materials based upon written request for medical information and reports findings to requestors of information.
  • Informs patients and agencies such as insurance companies, social services, and medical activities on policies associated with releasing medical information.
  • Uses computer software and printing equipment effectively to prepare/develop required documents.
  • Prepares documents/packages for pick-up or mailing in accordance with established standard protocols.
  • Review, code, and analyze medical records to identify inaccurate entries and/or omissions. They shall plan, organize and accomplish the review, analysis and coding of medical records utilizing a variety of means to identify coding requirements. The specialist analyzes patient records that may include multiple injuries, diseases, and/or medical/surgical procedures, determining both accuracy and completeness. They shall determine if/when deviations from proper terminology may indicate omission or inaccuracy within the record and initiate actions to obtain clarification, coordinating work-up of medical charts with staff physician.
  • Ensure proper billing procedures are initiated upon completion/fill of request. The Specialist shall initiate, post charges, and forward billing statements to appropriate accounting officer for action.
  • Treat patient lists as privileged information. Lists and/or names of patients shall not be disclosed to or revealed in any way for any use outside the MTF without prior written permission by the SGH, 10th MDG.
Qualifications:
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Knowledge of medical terminology 

Education:

  • High School Degree or GED equivalency


Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support
  • Registered Health information Technician (RHIT) or,
  • Registered Health information Administrator (RHIA)
