POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for on-site management of NAC’s heavy maintenance events at Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises and manages vendors, MRO, and all NAC personnel at the heavy maintenance facility to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, manufacturers service bulletins and company manuals. Provides recommendations on hiring, firing, discipline for internal maintenance employees and vendor contracts.
- Establishes and manages work schedules for all on-site NAC personnel.
- Works with the Directors of Quality Control, Maintenance, Engineering and Materials. to drive positive changes in procedures that will improve Company Heavy Maintenance policies and procedures.
- Is the Company’s on-site representative regarding all financial and technical matters for subject event and is the final authority in determining who can work on company aircraft at Heavy Maintenance events. This includes stop-work authority if an unsafe or hazardous condition presents itself.
- Responsible for ensuring all vendor personnel meet the qualifications to perform maintenance functions on the aircraft.
- In coordination with the Directors of Quality Control, Maintenance, Engineering and Materials, reviews and makes final determination on addressing findings from Heavy Maintenance inspection team.
- Reviews and approves completed maintenance paperwork against documented work scope to ensure all task cards are correct and completed prior to airworthiness release.
- Responsible for final airworthiness release of the aircraft from the heavy maintenance event.
- Ensures vendor and company personnel are entering routine and non-routine items into TRAX for the Heavy Maintenance event.
- Ensures mapping of dents and/or repairs is complied with by vendor and company maintenance technicians during Heavy Maintenance events.
- Train MRO personnel on Northern Air Cargo CAMP policies/procedures.
- Approves (both technical and financial) and is accountable for all work accomplished on company aircraft and components.
- Responsible for identifying hazards within the Company’s operations and
- systems, and reporting those hazards through the WBAT or departmental hazard
- reporting systems.
- Contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
- Other duties as assigned by the VP of Tech Ops, Directors of Quality Control, Maintenance, Materials and Engineering.
- Provides evaluation and feedback on vendor and company employee performance.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the knowledge, training, and ability to lead and direct vendors and company personnel to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - A valid FAA mechanic’s certificate with both airframe and powerplant ratings.
- Five years of experience on the commercial aircraft operating under part 121 or 145..
- Successfully complete (or have successfully completed) forty hours of general familiarization class (instructor lead) on the same aircraft model.
- Must be a in innovative team leader with good interpersonal skills.
- Need to operate effectively, make key decisions to ensure the timely output of the heavy maintenance event while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Must have valid passport from country of citizenship and be able to travel internationally without restriction.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, and obtain AOA badge as necessary.
LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS
- Demonstrated ability to provide oral and written instructions., aircraft drawings, wire diagrams, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively within NAC, with contractors/personnel in location destinations, and other stakeholders as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Majority of the work is performed in an office environment supporting maintenance hangar/shop and ramp activities.
- May be exposed to adverse weather conditions (extreme heat or cold), wet surfaces and icy conditions, high winds, etc.
- May be required to work varied shifts and stay on/with aircraft for extended periods.
- Will travel to multiple domestic and international destinations with varying levels of services and infrastructure be able to work varied shifts.
- Use of personal protective equipment may be required. PHYSICAL EFFORT
- The employee may occasionally need to lift up to 50 lb.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms (full range of motion); climb or balance; and stoop, kneel; crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must have the ability to climb and stand on ladders.
- The employee must have the ability see, speak, and hear hazards in an industrial environment.
