3rd shift: 10:00pm - 6:30am with occasional OT when needed

**This role will train on 1st shift (6:00am - 2:30pm) for the first several weeks**

$21.00/hr + $1.50 Shift Premium


Job Description

The SMC operator manages the activities of the SMC machine and supporting equipment contributing to

efficient manufacture of consistently high-quality SMC meeting or exceeding customer specifications with safety operations for the entire crew first and foremost. The SMC Operator reports to the Production Supervisor or Production Manager.  The SMC operator controls all aspects of the SMC machine and has authority to shut down the machine if quality is at risk of compromise specifications or is in any way non‐conforming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):

Responsibilities include, but not limited to SMC Machine set‐up, and the following functions:

 

2. The quality of the resulting SMC output.

  1. Champions safety and leads by example via modeling appropriate PPE, immediately reporting and reacting to unsafe conditions and/or acts with the commitment that all accidents are preventable.
  2. Champions Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) compliance by assuring labeling is correct, containers are properly sealed and disposed of, and that spills are promptly cleaned up and reported.
  3. Owns the quality of the SMC2 production line and is empowered to shut-down machine in conjunction with Production Supervisor, if material is out of compliance or safety is infringed.  
  4. Is an owner of SMC2 paperwork, thus assuring accuracy in completion and submission of this documentation.
  5. Is an owner of the Departmental housekeeping program (6S) and is a strong advocate of 6S in optimizing work area(s) and in continuous improvement.
  6. Proactively monitors the working order and condition of equipment, diagnoses potential problems and communicates equipment issues in an effort to optimize departmental performance and reduce unscheduled machine downtime. 
  7. Operation of SMC during production, checking film quantity and overseeing film changes, monitoring paste (A & B sides) for continuous processing, making dam adjustments based on square foot and sheet weight ranges, observing glass for outages, hang‐ups, roll‐ups and knots, cleaning off choppers, labeling and capturing paste retain cans, hooking up flush lines, flushing lines, cleaning down spouts and overseeing the dam cleaning function.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

 

  • High school diploma (GED) or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing plant environment
  • Good verbal skills with an eye for detail.
  • Multi‐task oriented, flexible, safety, quality, and customer committed.  
  • Ability to work independently while a team player complimenting individual and team objectives.
  • Ability to drive Forklift.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and handle full 55-gallon drums.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Certified and prepared to wear respirator if and when directed.
