ASSOCIATE ANALYST

*The current vacancies are in the Public Works Department, Maintenance Operations Division, and the Transportation Department, Transit Operations Division.  

Public Works Department Job Duties:

The Associate Analyst for the Culver City Public Works Department plays a key role in evaluating programs and operational issues. Core responsibilies include the following: collects data sufficient to support conclusions and recommendations, completes the analysis consistent with established deadlines, writes reports which support ideas logically, presents recommendations and findings, makes effective verbal presentations, develops and presents ideas and issues in a convincing verbal manner, maintains effective and continuing rapport with other City departments and divisions, establishes rapport with City staff of all levels, effective in obtaining and providing information and resolving issues in question, conducts research about policy and operations pertinent to the department, maintains a current and thorough working knowledge of department programs and their requirements, supervises staff of clerical or maintenance personnel, performs other related duties.

Transportation Department Job Duties: 

The Associate Analyst for the Culver City Transportation Department plays a key role in supporting operational and programmatic decision making through data collection, analysis, and presentation. Core responsibilities include conducting research, preparing reports, and delivering presentations to city staff, elected officials, and the public. The position also supports the implementation and oversight of technology systems critical to transit operations—such as managing the department’s cloud-based timekeeping platform, tracking DMV certifications, and coordinating medical DOT scheduling. This role requires strong analytical, technological, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with the public.

Minimum Requirements:

Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: 

Two (2) years of college work and
Two (2) years para-professional administrative work as support staff for a division or department head. 

Additional experience may be considered in-lieu of education on a year for year basis. Some supervisory experience is desirable. 

License and Certificates:

Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license required, if assigned to drive.

Minimum Qualifications


Applicants must receive a passing score on all examination components in order to be placed on the eligible list.

  • Written Test (weighted at 50%): To measure the ability to produce written responses using software applications commonly utilized by this classification. (Tentatively scheduled during the week of October 20, 2025 or week of October 27, 2025).
  • Oral Appraisal Interview (weighted at 50%): To evaluate training, experience and personal qualifications. (Tentatively scheduled during the week of Novemebr 10, 2025 and/or week of November 17, 2025).
