This position is a PRN (as needed) position. 

About the Role:

The Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in supporting pharmacists to ensure the accurate and efficient dispensing of medications in both hospital and retail pharmacy settings. This position involves managing prescription orders, preparing and labeling medications, and maintaining sterile environments to guarantee patient safety. The technician acts as a vital link between patients, pharmacists, and healthcare providers by facilitating clear communication and timely processing of prescriptions. Reliability and attention to detail are essential to uphold the highest standards of pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance. Ultimately, the Pharmacy Technician contributes to improving patient health outcomes by ensuring medications are handled with precision and respect.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or equivalent credential.
  • Experience with order entry and prescription filling in a pharmacy setting.
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques and pharmacy safety protocols.
  • Ability to operate fax machines and other office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in both hospital and retail pharmacy environments.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy management software systems.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Additional certifications related to pharmacy operations or healthcare services.
  • Demonstrated reliability and professionalism in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately enter prescription orders into the pharmacy system and verify patient information.
  • Fill and label prescriptions following established protocols and safety standards.
  • Operate and maintain fax machines and other communication tools to coordinate with healthcare providers.
  • Perform sterilization procedures to maintain a clean and safe pharmacy environment.
  • Assist pharmacists in inventory management, including stocking and organizing medications.
  • Provide courteous and respectful service to patients and healthcare staff.
  • Adhere to all hospital and retail pharmacy regulations and guidelines to ensure sterility and safety.

The required skills such as order entry and filling prescriptions are fundamental to daily pharmacy operations, ensuring that medications are accurately prepared and dispensed. Proficiency with fax machines facilitates seamless communication with healthcare providers, enabling timely prescription processing.
