About the Department
This position is responsible for receiving animal enforcement calls, dispatching appropriate department personnel, and providing both administrative and occasional field support for shelter and regulatory operations.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Five (5) years of experience in a similar position, sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position. Relevant experience would be: Customer service experience, including phone calls, managing difficult or emotional situations; Dispatching services for animal services, police, EMS or fire department; Managing data entry, records and digital filing systems; and Working as an animal care professional, especially with a municipality.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, and physical.
Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) courses, ICS 100 and IS 700, within ninety (90) days of hire.
Other Qualifications
- Receives emergency and non-emergency calls by phone, fax and email; gathers information in order to determine appropriate response.
- Operates two-way radio to maintain contact with field personnel.
- Processes written complaints, completed case files, kennel/cattery/mushing applications, and other forms.
- Establishes and maintains files, records and other information both by hard copy and by data entry.
- Files and maintains shelter documents in accordance with records retention guidelines.
- Tracks the location of field personnel.
- Assists the public with animal adoptions.
- Provides operational support to shelter functions as directed; monitors, orders, and maintains office supplies; maintains social media websites in coordination with shelter leadership; maintains cleanliness and organization of the dispatch office and enforcement areas.
- Assists shelters, enforcement and medical personnel with animal handling.
- Provides field support to officers during kennel/cattery/mushing license inspections by assisting with coordination and ensuring accurate documentation of compliance activities.
- Administers vaccinations and microchips.
- Performs related duties.
