This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing initiatives that drive growth, efficiency, and profitability across the Personal Lines (PL), and other segments as necessary. Partner closely with the respective business product owners and serve as a key connector between the Marketing and Product Teams to ensure alignment with segment-specific priorities and goals. Translate business needs into actionable marketing plans, deploy targeted campaigns to support new business and retention, and monitor performance metrics to optimize impact. Note: (For NJ candidates) This role will be located at our future headquarters in Short Hills, N.J. Until the new headquarters is operational, the successful candidate will be offered the ability to work in our Branchville, N.J. location during this interim period.
Responsibilities:- Develop and implement marketing strategies aligned with corporate and segment-specific objectives for Personal Lines, and other segments as necessary, with a focus on driving growth, profitability, and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with product owners and business partners across to identify marketing opportunities and translate them into actionable plans and campaigns.
- Ensure all marketing and communication strategies enhance Selective’s brand position. Utilize multi-channel marketing communication solutions targeted to different audience segments/needs. Partner with other stakeholders to drive engagement through the multi-channels and identify key data to use for targeting/segmentation.
- Utilize a data-driven, storytelling approach to support initiatives that influence growth, efficiency, and profitability.
- Establish strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure marketing strategies are informed by and aligned with business priorities.
- Apply measurement frameworks to evaluate campaign performance, optimize marketing impact, and demonstrate return on investment. Continuously seek opportunities to improve marketing processes and introduce innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support long-term planning for strategic marketing communication initiatives by forecasting future needs and identifying emerging opportunities.
- Leverage other team members with functional expertise to help shape these new strategies with a demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, collaborate with, and influence all levels of the organization.
- Lead execution of the department's strategies and key initiatives, including preparation and management of the department's operating and expense budget.
Knowledge and Requirements
- Experience in marketing, preferably within the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance industry
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence the business
- A thorough understanding of the insurance business model and customer lifecycle
- A solid grasp of digital marketing and campaign automation, along with the ability to stay current on evolving trends, technologies (including Generative AI), and opportunities, and to work with stakeholders to bring new initiatives to life.
- Experience managing external vendors, agencies, and high-value partners is critical to ensure seamless execution of marketing initiatives.
- A data-informed mindset and familiarity with performance metrics and return on investment (ROI) analysis are key to optimizing marketing impact and driving continuous improvement.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Digital Marketing, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, preferably within the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance industry
- Proven ability to develop measurable marketing plans that align with sales objectives
- Experience managing budgets
- Proven ability to drive engagement and activation
- Project Management experience

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
