Position: Lead in Training
Location: Melrose – 7111 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles CA 90046
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Support Management with day-to-day shift operations; may assist in leading team members during shifts (typically there will be an on-site manager)
- Learn front of house (FOH) and back of house (BOH) operations
- Ensure all food safety practices are followed consistently in alignment with company policies
- Be available as the “Point of Contact” when and if the Health Inspector visits
- Maintains food service and production levels by helping to a lead strong front of house (FOH) and back of house (BOH) execution
- Responsible for conducting Quality Checks of product/food
- Responsible for checking vendor deliveries to ensure all product received is correct
- Complete Health Inspection walkthroughs, including temperature checks of all produce
- Ensure team and guest safety by following operational policies and procedures
- Be available to assist other team members to consistently follow Tatsu’s standards and procedures
- Ensures all food served is safe, properly prepared, and visually presentable
- Monitor and ensure team members are taking breaks in compliance with California labor laws
- Following and demonstrating recipe compliance
- Organizes and assigns opening and closing duties to staff members
- Contribute ideas, thoughts and solutions to help improve efficiency and maximize results
- Communicate any repair(s) needed or operational issues to management promptly
- Escalate issues and concerns to management promptly
- Address guest complaints or concerns professionally and positively
- Provides feedback to Management on team member performance during shift (no employee discipline responsibilities, any disciplinary action will be addressed by management)
- Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evening, weekends, nights and/or holidays
- Willing and able to perform staff tasks and cover for other team members, both in FOH and BOH *2-3 shifts of each a week*
- Willing and able to support other restaurant locations as needed
- Other tasks as specified by management
Skills and Requirements
- 6 months of experience in FOH or BOH
- Must be in good standing with the company at the time of application (internally only)
- Candidate must not have been placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) within the last 6 months of employment with the company (internally only)
- Able to work flexible hours
- Able to work weekends and/or holidays
- Ability to multitask in fast-paced environment
- Strong desire to develop leadership skills and grow within the company
- Reliable, team-oriented, and committed to providing excellent guest service
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Food Handlers Certificate
- Fluent in both written and spoken English
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
- Restaurants and Central Kitchen are equipped with ventilated air conditioning
- Noise level is moderate to high
- Temperatures vary from hot to cold
- Floors may be slippery due to the nature of the business
- Able to stand for 2-4 hours at a time
- Able to reach overhead and outwards, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and squat
- Able to lift, push, carry and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds or less
