Salary: $55000 - $65000 / annually – depending on licensure

 

Job Summary

Wood’s Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) is an intensive mental health treatment program where children, youth or young adults who are diagnosed with severe mental, emotional, intellectual, and behavioral challenges receive 24-hour supervision and therapeutic support. Our treatment services are aimed to helping individuals develop the skills they need to effectively manage their own self-care and successfully transition into a less restrictive environment. Applicants should have experience with conducting functional behavior assessments, behavior support plan development, administering criterion-referenced assessment tools, and staff/parent training.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops, implements and supports a treatment milieu aimed to help individuals develop the skills they need to effectively manage their own self-care and successfully transition into a less restrictive environment, in collaboration with other treatment team members.
  • Develops behavior plans/treatment plans for all clients with a focus on teaching antecedent strategies for reducing problematic behavior(s) and increasing skills and replacement behaviors utilizing evidence base practices.
  • Consults and collaborates with parents, team members, school faculty, and other school/funding agencies regarding goal-related actions to support the resident.
  • Conducts initial and ongoing assessment of needs and risks using reliable and valid assessment tools to address the needs of the individuals served in the program.
  • Participates in the development and monitoring of an Individual Service Plan and Behavior Support Plan that identifies individualized treatment goals, i.e., social, emotional, and behavioral goals for treatment, in collaboration with the program participant to facilitate participant success.
  • Provides crisis management services that may include the facilitation of emergency psychiatric hospitalization services, when necessary; serves as the liaison to the inpatient team and facilitate the individual’s return to Woods.
  • Completes all required documentation, including, but not limited:
    • Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) including the collection and interpretation of data
    • ISP - development and updating the treatment plan as progress is made
    • Monthly Summary-Monthly Data collection
    • Required outcome tools, e.g. Verbal Behavioral Milestones and Placement Program (VB-MAPP), Abberrant Behavior Checklist (ABC), Essentials for daily living
    • Preference assessments
    • Fidelity checks
    • Graphing
  • Provides clinical coaching and mentoring to paraprofessionals to include training on behavior plans, and behavioral interventions by making sure they are following the plans and intervention to track progress on treatment goals.
  • Collects and analyzes data to monitor the efficacy of behavior change strategies.
  • Participates in ongoing collaborative team meetings, monthly medication review meetings with the psychiatrist, primary care physician, nurse and other treatment team members and provide data to inform the team of participant progress.
  • Oversees program completion and discharge requirements, including participation in discharge planning meetings, developing comprehensive discharge plans and reviewing them with participants and their families, and completing/providing any necessary documentation to facilitate community reintegration.
  • Works collaboratively with others at all levels of the organization
  • Responsible to adhere to all company policies and procedures as specific in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned relevant to program operations as defined by the clinical director.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis or related human services field with ABA experience; BCBA eligible or BCBA preferred.
  • Background in the development and implementation of behavioral interventions in accordance with highest standards of practice.
  • Expertise/training in conducting functional behavior assessments.
  • Knowledge of normal human development and experience providing treatment to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or co-morbid mental health disorders.
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team framework and manage various levels of family functioning.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills necessary. Strong clinical leadership skills and ability to work with parents/staff/individuals with varying cognitive abilities and skill levels. 
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, pursue individuals on foot, and physically restrain (with appropriate training), bend squat, and reach.
  • Prior to employment, personnel requirements include professional references, criminal clearances, and child abuse clearances.

Additional Information:

  • Caseloads kept small, 8-10 individuals, due to intensive behavioral programming with strong focus on stabilization, generalization of skills, and possible reunification to a home or a less restrictive setting. Flexible schedule, some evenings and weekends required to meet your caseload's needs.  High level of documentation and direct care/collaboration/consultation.
  • Supervision hours for BCBA certification can be provided
