The Clinical Applications Specialist will be the primary resource for all clinical applications, clinical application project management, ongoing education, and support to end-users. Ensuring that the EHR system is being utilized effectively and efficiently and that staff in Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health, and administration are able to use system in a competent manner through regular and ongoing training. Training new employees, assisting in application configuration / development, and conducting training programs for new workflows or updates of existing applications. Works with senior leadership and other IT resource to ensure that the systems meet all regulatory requirements and working with the vendor(s) to facilitate all system updates and improvements.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supports in leading successful implementation, development, adoption or optimization of all healthcare applications and recommendations for practice workflow processes.

2.  Supports workflow analysis and collaborates with staff to improve efficiency and plan future needs. Assists in creating clinical content like templates, order sets, and other tools to optimize application use. Leads super user groups to champion best practices and drive adoption of eClinicalWorks (eCW).

3. Serves as a liaison between the organization and eCW contacts, ensuring clear communication, timely issue resolution, and alignment of system capabilities with clinical workflows

4. Facilitates regular clinical applications education meetings to discuss processes and recommended improvements.

5. Handles on-call (evening/weekends) for eCW system issues

6. Collaborates with the Quality team to understand incentive programs and quality reporting requirements. Actively contributes to educating staff on system use to support accurate documentation and reporting aligned with program goals.

7. Performs evaluation, testing, implementation, upgrades, support, and maintenance of the EHR application.

8. Evaluates and recommends proposed new technology, products, and system updates.

9. Provides oversight of system access and security, data capture, and information workflow.

10. Diagnoses problems, evaluates solutions and communicates resolution to users and management.

11. Coordinates system downtime related to maintenance or unforeseen systems outages and communicates with affected users and managers.

12. Performs all other duties as assigned

13. Participation in community activities as a representative of Bucksport Regional Health Center.

  

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:

Experience and Skill Requirements: The following experience and skills are considered essential:

  • At least two years of experience in end user support or as a high-end super user in providing support and advanced software education to other users; related experience in a healthcare environment required.
  • Must be able to communicate and train individuals on moderately complex computer software functions.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft applications and large-scale automated systems (such as EHR). 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to partner with internal customers and guide them through challenging projects.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set appropriate priorities and accomplish moderately complex assignments in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and set priories.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Education Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential:

  • Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Healthcare, or related area, or the equivalent in related education and/or experience, required.
  • Advanced training and knowledge in the use of computer-generated spreadsheets, including Microsoft Excel.
