 JOB SUMMARY

This role carries responsibility for both the soliciting of new business opportunities as well as expansion of current relationships. The Business Banking Officer is expected to explore and cultivate new client relationships, develop and expand deposits and loans outstanding, introduce treasury services to enhance the operational efficiency for business clients and deepen the overall relationship customers have with FNB. In addition, the Officer is to develop a loan and deposit referral network using leads to achieve defined goals.

  • Develop new customer relationships; both business and personal to increase the number of households and businesses that bank with FNB.
  • Responsible for adding value to prospective clients and current clients across a full range of products and services, including loans,      deposits, and treasury services by making outbound sales calls. 
  • Be well-versed in all types of business banking accounts and services. Gather needed information from the customer as required to facilitate the opening of accounts. Conduct cash flow conversations with clients and prospects to identify needs relative to solutions offered in our treasury services suite. 
  • Interview loan applicants and collect and analyze financial and related data to determine the general credit worthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request 
  • Establish and negotiate, where necessary, the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment terms and collateral requirements. Produce complete and thorough loan packages that properly record the basis for a loan, its expected repayment plan and source, work with the credit team on financial analysis, collateral, and guarantor support, etc. 
  • Approve loans up to established approved lending limits and serve as a contact and servicing officer. Monitor loan repayment      activities and take necessary action to collect from past due borrowers. Service problem loans or classified or criticized assets as required. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure quality control of the serviced loan portfolio, focusing on collateral, insurance,      and financial exceptions.
  • Participate in community functions to increase the Bank's visibility and to enhance new business opportunities. 
  • Actively solicit relationship referrals from existing      customers 
  • Achieve goals set out by management including new deposit volume, referrals generated, the volume of loans managed, treasury services revenue and other production goals as requested 
  • Resolve customer complaints in a tactful, effective manner by taking ownership of the problem. 
  • Treat internal customers (other employees) with the same respect and attention as external Bank customers.
  • Comply with all BSA requirements and complete appropriate documentation. 
  • Carry out other such duties as may be assigned or directed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Environment: This position is primarily office-based, with no regular remote work. Some travel may be required to attend meetings, training, or regulatory engagements. 
  • Schedule: This is a full-time role, generally requiring availability during standard business hours. Flexibility may be needed for special projects, deadlines, or customer contact.
  • Physical Demands: This role is largely sedentary but may involve light physical activity, such as moving files or setting up for meetings. 
  • Stress Levels: At times, the Business Banking Officer will work under tight deadlines and must manage high-pressure situations.

Requirements

 JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. 
  • 3-5 years of bank experience preferred.

SKILLS

  • Thorough understanding of commercial banking products, credit policies, procedures and terminology. 
  • Strong time management abilities with effective prioritization of calling activities and strategies.  
  • Goal-driven with well-developed sales and business development skills.
  • Strategic thinker with solid analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proficient in credit analysis and financial evaluation. 
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills across departments.
