Adjunct Instructor, Sociology (Spring 2026), Part-Time

Drew University’s Department of Sociology is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach two (2) in-person daytime courses in Sociology. Specifically, we are looking for someone to teach an introductory course in Sociology as well as an intermediate or upper-level elective during the Spring 2026 semester (January 21 – May 13).

The Sociology Department is a collegial environment and attentive to issues of theoretical pluralism and diversity in our curriculum, student body, and faculty. 

Course Details: 

On a part-time basis, Adjunct Instructors serve as primary instructor for introductory, intermediate, and upper-level courses. Hold office hours, attend required meetings, and review and respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Office environment / no specific physical demands or lifting requirements.

Schedule: 

To be determined but between the hours of 9:00am – 4:00pm

Format: 

In-person instruction on Drew's Madison, New Jersey campus. 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in the relevant field or closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject area.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education.

Compensation:

$4,500 per 4-credit course
