RMS is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer II to support the successful execution of quality objectives across projects, suppliers, and internal operations. This role is responsible for preventing quality issues, resolving nonconformances, and driving continual improvement through effective collaboration with project teams, manufacturing, and sourcing groups. With a strong foundation in quality systems and problem-solving, the Quality Engineer II ensures compliance with requirements while promoting best practices in precision manufacturing and high-spec engineered equipment. Experienced in managing priorities and influencing cross-functional teams, this role provides technical expertise in support of turbomachinery, rotating equipment, and other high-reliability components.

- Knowledge and experience with QMS principles and ISO 9001.
- Working knowledge of relevant QHSE legislation.
- Exceptional safety and quality awareness.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, quality systems, and Excel-based data analysis; Power BI or SQL experience a plus
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Welding, NDT, and applicable industry codes preferred
PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the quality lead on assigned customer projects, ensuring compliance to technical, regulatory, and customer-specific requirements.
- Conduct detailed reviews of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring clarity of control points and alignment to internal and external expectations.
- Develop and manage Quality Plans, Quality Control Plans, and documentation required for contract deliverables.
- Oversee resolution of nonconformances using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.), focusing on corrective and preventive actions.
- Partner with Supply Chain to evaluate supplier performance, conduct root cause reviews, and implement risk-based quality strategies.
- Perform QC verification activities for direct materials delivered to the Pearland Works facility.
- Liaise with external calibration partners to support on-site and external calibration of measurement and test equipment.
- Support and lead internal audits, customer audits, and third-party audits under ISO 9001:2015 and other applicable standards.
- Monitor quality metrics across jobs and suppliers; develop reports and lead reviews to highlight trends and drive improvement.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to junior engineers or inspection personnel as needed.
- Participate in or lead cross-functional initiatives in areas such as special process validation or QMS enhancements.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Five or more years in quality engineering within a manufacturing or engineered products environment
- Proven experience leading root cause and corrective action investigations
- Experience with turbomachinery, rotating equipment or complex assemblies highly preferred
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. Equivalent work experience with a technical certification from an accredited institution will also be considered.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- The position may be based in RMS’s Pearland, TX facility.
- Travel time is expected to be 10-15%
- This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on project needs.
- This position can be required to participate in the company random or customer specific drug and alcohol screening and background check.
- Ability to act professionally under stressful situations.
- Able to understand, read, write and speak English.
- Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.(with assistance), walk, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance.
- Must be able to use hands for assembling and tool usage
- While performing the duties of this position the employee will be required to stand, sit, bend, and walk for significant portions of the shift
- Must not have allergies or issues related to handling metals, including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel.
- Authorized to work in the United States
- RMS Inc. may have government contracts that impose specific requirements on employees working on those projects. If an employee does not meet these requirements, they may be reassigned to a different location or be ineligible to work on certain assignments.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe, and "not loud", there will be machining operations that generate moderate noise and metal particles.
