About the Role
We are seeking a motivated, passionate and dedicated Kitchen Hand to join our team at Journey Beyond Cruise Sydney. This is a casual position based in Sydney. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for assisting in the kitchen by preparing food, supporting meal services, and maintaining a clean kitchen area and equipment to comply with food safety guidelines. You will also aid the Chefs and Cooks with food preparation and kitchen cleaning to ensure efficient service delivery.
1. Assist with the preparation and service of high-quality food, ensuring guest satisfaction and compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
2. Maintain cleanliness in food preparation areas and kitchen equipment, including washing dishes and properly storing food deliveries.
3. Support overall vessel readiness for cruises while adhering to work health and safety policies and assisting with additional duties as needed.
This is a hands-on position requiring attention to detail and a positive work attitude. A standard working day may be up to 12 hours between 8:30am – 11:00pm, across any of the seven days in the calendar week, including public holidays. Shifts commence and finish at Jones Bay Wharf in Pyrmont.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Food Handling Safety Certificate (essential, or willing to obtain upon commencement)
- Provide First Aid & CPR (preferred)
- RSA (preferred)
- Certificate in Commercial Cookery (preferred)
About You
- 1+ years’ experience in a similar role
- Able to work quickly and safely with minimal supervision
- Ability to manage time effectively, especially under pressure
- A positive “can-do” attitude with a cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity to the welfare of others
- Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills, with high fluency in English
- Must not be affected by seasickness
- Entitlement to work in Australia with no restrictions
A pre-employment medical and National Police Check may be required as part of this recruitment process.
