As a Senior Accountant – Residential Development, you will play a key role in ensuring the financial health of our residential projects. This position will oversee the accounting and reporting related to lot and home sales, development costs, contractor payments, and project cash flows.

 

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU'LL DO AS A CANYON RANCH COLLEAGUE

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage and monitor all financial aspects of the closing process for lot and home sales, ensuring accurate and timely recording of revenue, deposits, incentives, and closing costs.

  • Prepare monthly project-level financial reports, including cost-to-complete, margin analysis, cash forecasts, and budget-to-actual variance analysis.

  • Track and process payments to general contractors, ensuring compliance with contracts, lien waivers, insurance, and retainage requirements.

  • Maintain accurate accounting records for buyer deposits and escrow activity.

  • Partner with sales, legal, operations, and project managers to provide clear financial insights that support forecasting and capital planning.

  • Assist with year-end tax support and audit requests related to residential development.

  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSUFL

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience: 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in real estate development, residential projects, or construction accounting.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial principles, with advanced skills in Excel and accounting systems (NetSuite experience preferred).

  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.

  • A proactive problem-solver with the ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
