Engineer II Metering
Service and Metering
Job Purpose
The Engineer II supports gas and electric metering operations through the application of engineering principles, technical analysis, and project management. This role develops and implements metering solutions that ensure accuracy, safety, reliability, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Engineer II contributes to the planning, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of advanced metering systems and technologies, with a focus on operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Engineering Support
Provide technical expertise in the selection, configuration, and performance of gas and electric meters.
Provide technical expertise and support for electric service work.
Conduct analysis and testing to ensure meter accuracy, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
Support the integration and troubleshooting of metering systems with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).
Project Delivery
Plan and execute small to mid-scale metering projects, including upgrades, replacements, and system improvements.
Prepare project documentation, cost estimates, and schedules.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safe and efficient project implementation.
Regulatory and Compliance
Support compliance with Public Service Commission (PSC) and industry standards, including ANSI, AGA, and NIST requirements.
Assist in maintaining accurate documentation and reporting for audits and inspections.
Operational Support
Provide engineering guidance to field metering staff on installation, testing, and maintenance practices.
Analyze performance and failure trends, recommending corrective actions.
Develop and update technical procedures, standards, and specifications.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in the evaluation and adoption of new metering technologies.
Recommend process improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Support data-driven decision-making through engineering analysis.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering field.
Experience
2–5 years of relevant engineering experience; utility or metering experience preferred.
