Ardent is seeking a Mid-Level Cartographer to join our team.
This is a full-time, on-site position in Washington, D.C.
Position Description:
Ardent is seeking a Mid-Level Cartographer to serve as the senior cartographic lead, responsible for the full geospatial data lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be experienced in geospatial data management, spatial analysis, and cartographic production in support of DHS/CBP mission objectives.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Lead geospatial data lifecycle execution including requirements investigation, feature creation/editing, attribution, and metadata documentation.
Migrate geospatial content into standardized data models.
Perform rigorous QA/QC on geospatial data before integration into authoritative enterprise geodatabases (ArcSDE/PostgreSQL).
Produce both thematic and reference maps using ArcGIS Pro.
Conduct simple to complex spatial analyses and document results through formal Analysis Methodology Reports.
Support geospatial data release and distribution protocols.
Participate in recurring project and stakeholder meetings.
Contribute to project documentation including Monthly Status Reports (MSRs), meeting agendas, briefs, and action item tracking in accordance with DHS/CBP governance.
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an IT-related field demonstrating the ability to work independently or under general direction.
Associate degree in management, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or an IT-related field is required; Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcSDE, and PostgreSQL in an enterprise geospatial environment.
Strong understanding of geospatial data standards, metadata, and cartographic principles.
Experience authoring technical reports and documentation.
Ability to provide guidance to junior personnel and collaborate within cross-functional teams.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
