The Opportunity

 

The Nemours Children’s Hospital, Enterprise Department of Pathology is seeking a full-time Vice-Chair with experience in medical directorship and administrative leadership of Clinical Pathology and the Transfusion Medicine encompassing both Blood Bank and Cellular Therapy services. 

With oversight of NCH-DE Clinical Pathology, as Vice-Chair, the candidate will partner with both the NCH-DE and NCH-FL Chairs of Pathology in the delivery of enterprise clinical excellence and systemness within all aspects of the Clinical Laboratory, including quality management and regulatory compliance. In this role as Vice-Chair, this individual will drive strategic purposeful growth within the Nemours Clinical Laboratory and Department of Pathology ecosystem while leading laboratory stewardship initiatives. The ideal candidate is well versed in business development with demonstrated success in programmatic growth, necessary to drive the establishment of the Nemours Telepathology service.

The Enterprise Vice-Chair will play an integral role in the growth and expansion of the Nemours Children’s Health Enterprise Transfusion Medicine Program in collaboration with the Chairs of Pathology for both Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware and Nemours Children’s Hospital Orlando.  In the capacity of Vice-Chair, this individual will drive the establishment of the Nemours Cellular Gene Therapy Laboratory, leveraging internal and external expertise to fully develop all clinical and research aspects of a CGT laboratory.

As Vice-Chairthe candidate will assume strategic and operational oversight of all existing blood banking and cellular gene therapy laboratory services. In the capacity of an enterprise role, Vice-Chair of Transfusion Medicine will seek to evolve and deliver transfusion medicines services across all geographical regions (within the Delaware Valley and Florida) where Nemours Children’s Health provides innovative pediatric care. In addition, this candidate will partner with the Apheresis and Cellular Therapy Collections Medical Director, in the oversight of the therapeutic and clinical apheresis services including plasmapheresis and erythrocytapheresis. 

The NCH-DE offers patients advanced therapeutic products including CAR-T and gene therapies for sickle cell disease and thalassemia as well as clinical trials that extend novel therapies to patients including cord blood transplant for cerebral palsy and a SCIDS trial using TCR αβ/CD19+ depleted grafts. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a rapidly expanding and well-supported cellular gene therapy program. Along with key clinical and administrative leaders, the Vice-Chair of Enterprise Transfusion Medicine and NCH-DE Clinical Pathology will work closely with the Lisa Dean Moseley Foundation Institute for Cancer and Blood Disorders team as we work to offer our patients state-of-the-art treatments and drive academic advancements. The Lisa Dean Moseley Foundation gifted $78 million to lead NCH-DE to national prominence in cancer and blood disorders. Position Requirements

  • MD, DO or foreign equivalent from an accredited institution 

  • MBA/MHA degree, preferred

  • Board Certified in Transfusion Medicine and Clinical Pathology 

  • Eligible for or holds unrestricted Delaware & Florida medical licenses and active DEA registration

  • Demonstrated success in strategic development and advancement of clinical/anatomical pathology programs

  • Demonstrated expertise in cellular therapies
