The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our Finance team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on accuracy, organization, and problem-solving, and who wants to contribute their financial expertise to a mission-driven nonprofit arts organization.

The Role You’ll Play

As Staff Accountant, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the financial integrity of OSF. You’ll be responsible for maintaining GAAP-compliant records, supporting audits, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and assisting with both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. You will also manage OSF’s credit card program, ensuring timely reconciliation, accuracy, and compliance with financial policies. 

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to use their financial and accounting skills to support one of the country’s leading nonprofit theatres. This position is a union represented position. 

What You’ll Do

  • Manage recurring journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly/annual close processes.
  • Accounts Payable for assigned vendors
  • Manage OSF’s credit card program, including reconciliations, monitoring transactions, and ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Participate in internal and external financial audits.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain accurate financial documentation.
  • Analyze and resolve discrepancies between accounting systems and reports.
  • Track active accounts, project codes, and grants in Financial Edge.
  • Backup AP and AR as necessary
  • Prepare regular reports for management and provide input into department goals.
    Continuously develop your skills and contribute to process improvements.

You’ll Thrive Here If You…

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business (or equivalent experience; 3+ years accounting-specific experience may substitute).
  • Have experience preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and creating financial statements.
  • Are proficient with accounting software and highly skilled in Excel.
  • Understand GAAP standards and nonprofit accounting practices.
  • Are self-motivated, organized, and committed to accuracy and efficiency.
  • Communicate clearly and maintain professionalism in handling confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Nonprofit accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with Financial Edge or similar systems.

Physical & Schedule Requirements

  • Standard office-based role, working at a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift boxes up to 40 lbs.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) was founded in 1935 in Ashland, OR, and has grown from a three-day festival of two plays to a nationally renowned theatre arts organization that presents a rotating repertory season of up to 10 plays and musicals, including illuminating interpretations of Shakespeare, other enduring classics, and new works. OSF productions have been presented on Broadway, internationally, and at regional, community, and high school theatres across the country. OSF received the 1983 Special Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre and is one of the largest nonprofit theatres in the nation with three stages, including an outdoor Allen Elizabethan Theatre.

Annual salary: $75,762.79
