The Prince George’s County Health Department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Program Manager, (Community Developer IV) grade A27 position, in the Health and Wellness division.
About the Position
This is a professional management level administrative generalist position, whereby the incumbent provides administrative and technical support to the Program Chief of Population Health, and manages ACIS, a major grant-funded program within the Health and Wellness Division.
The incumbent will supervise subordinate positions and provide oversight to external partners and vendors. This position is subject to extensive public contact, the incumbent ensures compliance with local, state and federal mandates and laws, and must use independent judgement, action and initiative.
This position is supervised and evaluated by the Program Chief in accordance with departmental rules, policies, and
procedures.

The PGCHD works to protect and support the public’s health through numerous services that range from restaurant inspections and disease tracking to care coordination and health promotion. The department is composed of four divisions: Behavioral Health Services, Environmental Health and Disease Control, Family Health Services, and Health and Wellness, supported by the Office of Administration, Office of Human Resources and the Office of the Health Officer. The mandate of the department has been, and will remain, broad. This plan emphasizes improving core functions and operations, including protecting the public from health threats, implementing strategies to support healthy living, and maintaining a focus on vulnerable populations, while developing efficient internal processes to support these activities.
Position Duties
Identifies and provides guidance to management, assessing project risks and issues and resolving key programmatic, management and
administrative issues in grant-funded initiatives.Counsels management in developing and monitoring sound organizational structures, improving management methods and procedures, and
ensuring the effective use of resources and materials.Serves as grants manager for various state, and federal programs and projects. Reports performance regularly to the Program Chief and the project
team.Assists with the preparation of Program budgets and applications for submittal to the funder activities. Negotiates contracts, agreements, and cooperative agreements with sub-contractors, state and local agencies. Oversees program data in EPIC, ensuring state and local compliance and COMAR regulations are met. Works with Billing Department to verify vendor payments are processed in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in business or public administration, social services, sociology, psychology, or other field(s). Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional technical, analytical and developmental work experience with at least one (1) year in a lead/supervisory role.
Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered.
Please note there is no equivalency for supervisory experience.
