About the Department
Under general supervision, is responsible for developing a system to monitor, track, and report outreach and distribution activities conducted by the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Department to include tasks executed in connection to Bexar County’s COVID-19 response. The position shall maintain strategic partnerships with external agencies, the business community and community organizations to promote and maintain County programs and initiatives designed to assist and/or strengthen local small businesses.
Position Duties
- Assists with the identification, cataloging and assignment of key attributes used to highlight and report on small businesses in Bexar County
- Assists in developing strategies and initiatives to incentive, promote and strengthen the efforts of local small businesses in Bexar County
- Assists relationship building via direct contact and telecommunications between the local small business community and Bexar County’s Small Business & Entrepreneurship Department
- Assists with coordination of and participates with business outreach events and special projects using independent decision-making and judgment
- Maintains and updates existing databases and worksheets used to categorize, identify and report on small business status and activities
- Develops and prepares statistical reports and presentations
- Prepares informational and promotional material for local business endeavors
- May assist with the different Small Business & Entrepreneurship Department programs and initiatives
- Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field, and one (1) year of experience manipulating and reporting on large datasets; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of public service agencies, assistance programs, and implements related to economic development and small business
- Knowledge of management analysis, research techniques and performance measurements; good knowledge of budget analysis and preparation; knowledge of local, state, and Federal government operations
- Skill in utilizing tact and diplomacy when dealing with diverse groups of individuals
- Skill in managing multiple projects simultaneously, organizing, compiling and recording information accurately; and utilizing word processing, database, or spreadsheet software packages; skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing; skill in utilizing Windows-based word processing and spreadsheet software; skill in collecting and analyzing financial data
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek

- Working conditions are primarily indoors
