Future Farm Leaders – By Solterra

Program Objectives & Structure

The Future Farm Leaders program is a Graduate Program designed to provide a structured development pathway for future farm leaders. Over two years, you’ll gain technical, operational and leadership experience through on-farm placements, formal training, and mentoring support. This is a hands-on program for those wanting to step into Farm Manager or Agronomy roles.

Program Structure:

Year 1 – Coolana (Wirrinya, NSW): Farm Operations & Agronomy Foundations

  • Agronomic practices including soil, crop and pest/disease management
  • Introduction to SwarmBot robotic sprayer and on-farm applications
  • Farm budgeting, logistics and seasonal planning
  • Practical experience in chemical handling and broadacre operations

Year 2 – Worral Creek (Talwood, QLD): Strategic Farm Management & Applied Agronomy

  • Leading teams and overseeing workflows
  • Advanced agronomic decision-making
  • Exposure to sustainability, policy and compliance requirements

Throughout the program, you’ll also receive regular mentoring from experienced leaders, attend structured check-ins, and build a strong peer network with other graduates.

Qualifications:

What will I get out of the Future Farm Leaders Program?

You will work as part of the on-farm and corporate teams on day-to-day farming activities and real-life projects, whilst receiving on-the-job coaching, training and mentorship.

  • You will gain exposure to different production regions, farming systems and corporate administration. This exposure will provide you with a detailed understanding of how large scale national corporate agricultural businesses are structured and operate.
  • You will receive several training intensives throughout the program with a focus on technical, managerial, agronomic, budgeting and precision agriculture skills.
  • You will be a full-time employee (on a maximum-term contract) and paid a competitive salary. Upon the completion of the graduate program, graduates will be eligible to apply for permanent roles within the business.

Am I eligible for the Program?

To qualify for the Solterra Agriculture Graduate Program, you will graduate in 2025 or have graduated in 2024 with a degree from tertiary studies at a Certificate IV, Diploma, Bachelors, or Masters level from an accredited educational institution. Although not limited to these, we encourage students enrolled in the following qualifications to apply:

  • Agronomy
  • Farm Management
  • Agribusiness

You will be required to meet residency requirements by holding Australian or New Zealand Citizenship.
