Position Summary:
The Senior Manager of Procurement will lead strategic sourcing and procurement operations across all transportation and logistics categories, with a focus on optimizing cost, service, and supplier performance. This role will oversee procurement for LTL, FTL, parcel, and ocean freight, and collaborate cross-functionally to align procurement strategies with business goals. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in 3PL logistics, contract negotiation, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead procurement strategy for transportation services including LTL, FTL, parcel, and international (cross border) freight.
- Develop and manage RFPs, RFQs, and contract negotiations with carriers and logistics providers.
- Analyze freight spend, carrier performance, and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain and optimize rate databases, contracts, and tariff documentation.
- Collaborate with Logistics, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure procurement alignment with service and budget goals.
- Implement KPIs to monitor carrier performance (on-time delivery, claims ratio, invoice accuracy).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and logistics functions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Mentor and develop procurement analysts and specialists within the team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in transportation procurement, logistics, or 3PL operations.
- Proven success in carrier negotiations and freight cost optimization.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Experience with TMS systems and freight audit platforms.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Deep understanding of 3PL logistics operations and carrier networks.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual capabilities (e.g., Spanish) a plus.
