Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The CSC (Coordinated Specialty Care) Supported Education and Employment Specialist plays a key role in helping individuals experiencing First Episode Psychosis (FEP) continue, resume, or adapt their academic and vocational pursuits. Utilizing the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, this role focuses on assisting participants in achieving their educational and career goals, while providing the necessary support to overcome barriers related to their mental health. The specialist will work closely with clients, families, and the treatment team to identify educational and employment opportunities, support the participant in maintaining or succeeding in those roles, and offer personalized guidance throughout the process.


PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The CSC (Coordinated Specialty Care) Early Psychosis Program is a specialized treatment approach designed to help individuals who are experiencing First Episode Psychosis. The goal of the program is to provide comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care that addresses the various needs of young people (typically ages 12-25) who have recently experienced symptoms of psychosis. The program is aimed at improving long-term outcomes and minimizing the negative impact of psychosis on the individual's life. 


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist clients in identifying their educational and vocational interests, goals, and strengths, with a focus on promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Help participants resume or begin their academic studies, vocational training, or employment, ensuring that they have the tools and resources needed to succeed.
  • Develop individualized plans for education and employment that are integrated with the client’s overall treatment and recovery plan.
  • Apply the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model of supported employment to assist clients in obtaining competitive, integrated employment or education opportunities.
  • Coordinate job search, application processes, and initial training for participants, providing on-the-job coaching and support as needed to help them succeed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers, vocational training programs, educational institutions, and community partners to create opportunities for program participants.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching to participants to develop critical job-readiness skills, including interview preparation, resume writing, time management, and workplace communication.
  • Work closely with the CSC treatment team (including Team Leaders, Recovery Coaches, Outreach Specialists, and clinicians) to ensure that educational and employment goals are integrated into the overall treatment and recovery plan.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned to assist the needs of the program or organization. 




Requirements

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
  2. Experience or certification in vocational rehabilitation, job coaching, or supported employment is highly desirable.
  3. Familiarity with the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model or similar evidence-based practices in supported education/employment is preferred.


Licensure, Registration, Certification

  1. Valid CA driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
  2. Completion of CPR/First Aid certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment.


Salary Description
$60,320-$62,400 Yearly
