Job Summary
Dominion Energy South Carolina is looking for Apprentice Lab Meter Worker located in Cayce, SC.
This position provides a service through the execution of various meter maintenance and testing programs, ensuring compliance with PSC rules and regulations. The employee is responsible for operating meter test console to test accuracy of electric and gas meters. Testing includes verification of proper calibration, verification of proper configuration, verification of meter communications and adjusting calibration to meet specifications. All electric meter categories are applicable including single phase, polyphase, AMR and AMI. Gas meters up to class 1000 are applicable including AMR and AMI. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, valid SC driver's license, ability to lift 70 pounds, proficiency in the use of a personal computer, manual dexterity to operate hand-held equipment, strong math skills and a strong mechanical/electrical aptitude, strong interpersonal skills that will facilitate working in group environment and communicating with customers.
Major responsibilities include operating the following: console to test accuracy of watthour meters for new shipment acceptance, console to test accuracy of watthour meters for random sampling process, console to test accuracy of watthour meters for high bill complaints and console to test accuracy watthour meters for refurbishment. Performs the following: electric meter and receiving processes, programming of electronic meters using various software applications, communication testing for AMR and AMI meter types. Also operates console to test instrument transformers, troubleshoot electric meter equipment failures, operates console to test accuracy of gas meters for new shipment acceptance and tests for accuracy of gas meters for random sampling process, operate console to test accuracy of gas meters for high bill complaints, perform leak testing for gas meters, perform gas meter shipping and receiving processes, tests communication of gas AMR and AMI communication modules, replace communications modules, performs programming of gas AMR and AMI ERT modules, navigation of CIS/Meter Inventory to update records, navigation of CIS/Meter Inventory to assist solving problems, order operating materials and equipment from company storeroom and assist in training of other groups that are involved in metering activities.

Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):
- Ability to lift 70 pounds
- Proficiency in the use of a personal computer,
- Manual dexterity to operate hand-held equipment,
- Strong math skills and a strong mechanical/electrical aptitude,
- Strong interpersonal skills that will facilitate working in a group environment and communicating with customers
