Position Purpose
As a Team Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operations of our Berrinba Distribution Centre. You’ll be responsible for managing warehouse operations to deliver predictable, reliable service in line with Sigma’s service excellence standards. This role requires a strong focus on safety, operational efficiency, and team leadership, with the objective of improving customer service and reducing costs.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse & Operations Management
Lead and manage daily warehouse operations, including receiving, picking, packing, dispatching, and inventory control.
Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies.
Implement and monitor productivity, quality, and service standards to meet performance targets.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customer service and reduce operational costs.
Maintain a safe and efficient working environment in accordance with Work Health & Safety (WHS) regulations.
Manage waste disposal and liaise with external contractors (e.g., waste removal, plumbing).
Coordinate and execute emergency and crisis procedures when necessary.
Ensure pre-start checks and equipment authorisations are completed for MHE and other machinery.
Process credits, claims, and time/attendance entries.
Manage and escalate operational issues when acting as Duty Manager.
People Management
Lead, coach and motivate a high-performing team to achieve warehouse KPIs.
Conduct performance management meetings, including absence, conduct, and behaviour discussions.
Develop individual training and development plans in line with operational goals.
Manage recruitment in collaboration with HR and oversee onboarding/inductions.
Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and Sigma values.
Ensure team compliance with mandatory training, SOPs, and safety procedures.
Administer leave requests and manage workforce planning in line with workload demands.
Key Selection Criteria
Qualifications (Desirable)
Certificate IV in Transport & Distribution (Warehousing & Storage)
Supervision or Team Leadership Certificate
H&S Certificate (5-day course)
Management training or demonstrated competency in leadership roles
Experience & Skills
Minimum 5 years’ experience in FMCG or multi-SKU warehouse environments in a leadership role
Strong working knowledge of primary transport logistics
Experience using warehouse technology systems (RF scanning, automation)
Proven people management and team leadership experience
Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives
Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and return-to-work processes
Excellent planning, problem-solving, and communication skills
Familiarity with Code of Good Wholesaling Practice
