Role Details
The Materials Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operational purchasing function, ensuring that all materials required for production—such as bottles, labels, closures, and other dry goods—are ordered, expedited, and delivered on time and in full (OTIF). This role ensures purchasing activities are executed in alignment with strategic procurement agreements and production timelines. Work together with the Product and Project teams on NPD and EPD run in and run for inventory and dry goods obsolescence. In addition, proficiency in co-pack management will ensure seamless collaboration with external partners. You will lead a team of 4 and play a key role in supplier engagement, tactical issue resolution, and weekly reporting to support supply chain continuity.
Your Key Accountabilities
Operational Purchasing
• Oversee the creation and management of purchase orders in line with production plans and MRP signals
• Ensure timely and accurate ordering of materials for production (bottles, closures, labels, cartons, etc.)
• Collaborate closely with the Planning Supervisor & team to ensure the delivery of dry goods on time and in full, aligned with production plans, forecasts, and bulk wine availability
• Monitor open orders and proactively expedite with suppliers to avoid delays
• Ensure purchasing aligns with MOQ, multiple order constraints, and forecast commitments
• Maintain an accurate and functional MRP system (JDE) in alignment with demand forecasts, ensuring optimal functionality for dry goods (Finished Goods Bill of Material).
Supplier Coordination & Tactical Support
• Conduct regular (weekly) operational meetings with key suppliers to review order status, upcoming requirements, and delivery risks
• Resolve short-term supply issues in coordination with planning, logistics, and warehousing teams
• Support implementation of procurement agreements by translating them into accurate purchasing actions
• Contract Pack and Production Management
• Oversee contract pack plans, ensuring alignment with bulk wine availability, site standards, and contract pack requirements
• Manage work orders (WOs) to ensure timely availability of wine volumes, meeting planning and customer demands
• Implement and manage external production schedules to fulfil planning and customer requirements, fostering seamless operations
Co-Pack Management
• Manage relationships with external co-pack partners, serving as the primary point of contact and ensuring timely and high-quality co-pack operations
• Collaborate with co-pack partners to align on production schedules, quality standards, and process improvements
• Conduct regular performance reviews of co-pack facilities to uphold our quality standards and operational requirements
• Coordinate the logistics of raw materials, finished goods, and inventory between co-pack partners and internal teams
Team Leadership
• Manage and support a team of 4 direct reports (Material Requirements Planners)
• Set clear priorities and ensure consistent execution of purchasing tasks
• Provide coaching, development, and performance management
Reporting & Metrics
• Maintain and report on purchasing KPIs including order accuracy, OTIF performance, and expediting effectiveness
• Provide weekly updates to Procurement Manager ANZ on supply status and risk areas
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in the purchasing process

Preferred:
• Experience with JDE, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems
• Understanding of procurement strategy and contract execution
• Strong problem-solving and expediting capability
Essential Qualifications
• 5+ years in purchasing or supply chain operations, ideally in manufacturing or FMCG
• Experience managing a team and working in ERP/MRP environments
• Strong understanding of supplier lead times, order cycles, and inventory impact
• Excellent communication and supplier relationship management skills
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience in wine, food, or beverage industry highly regarded
