Job Summary:
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Medical Billing Assistant to review superbills and chart notes, input patient and insurance data, and process explanations of benefits. The role requires knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes, basic anatomy, and strong communication skills to resolve claim issues with insurance companies and patients. Confidentiality, accuracy, and the ability to manage high volumes of paperwork are essential, along with flexibility to assist with billing and posting duties as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Reviewing chart notes for correct CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Understanding basic anatomy.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information related to patients and medical staff.
- Demonstrate positive interactions with patients, vendors, fellow employees, and supervisors.
- Review explanations of benefits to assess accuracy in reimbursement information, identify and research denials, down codes, and under-payments, adjust charges in billing system and update reimbursement information on spreadsheet as necessary, communicating with insurance companies and patients as necessary.
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding denied, inaccurate, or delayed claims, documenting research information on the appropriate tracking spreadsheets.
- Oversee 1500 billing forms that require paperwork to process, locate and correlate the necessary paperwork and subsequently mail the 1500s.
- Maintain the level of knowledge to perform billing and posting duties when directed by supervisor and perform these duties when necessary.

Must be able to operate office equipment including computer and copier. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time, with occasional walking. Must be able to bend and lift up to 25 pounds. Hearing and vision required.
Salary/ Benefits:
Starting pay - $22 - $24/hr depending on experience.
