What are we looking for?

Cleveland Clinic London are looking to recruit a Bank Surgical Care Practitioner to join our Bank Team.
 

This is a Bank role with the following shift patterns:

Monday – Sunday between the hours of 07:30 till 20:30
 

Exact shift timings will depend on the requirement of each case e.g. morning or afternoon.
 

Please note this role requires clearance for Exposure Prone Procedures (EPP), therefore you will be unable to join Cleveland Clinic London in Theatres without this level of Occupational Health clearance.

The post holder is directly responsible to the Lead Surgical Care Practitioner and Theatre Manager. The post holder will be expected to undertake duties with a high level of surgical clinical skills and knowledge, participating in operative procedures. Dependent on pre-existing skill set this will include responsibility as a bedside Robotic assistant, conduit harvesting for cardiac surgery, camera handling for Thoracic or Abdominal procedures and scope to 2nd or predominantly 1st assist in the above specialties.
 

Cleveland Clinic London will provide shifts at competitive rates, with in house EPIC training and induction to ensure a smooth and safe initiation, paid as a full working day. There will be exposure to highly skills and world renowned physicians and surgeons, as well as working in a high acuity hospital with state of the art equipment, devices and facilities.
 

What will your duties include?

  • Actively participate in surgical procedures at the direction/proximal supervision or instruction of the Consultant surgeon
  • Predominantly 1st assist or 2nd assist depending on case complexity
  • Take the lead in patient preparation for surgical procedures including skin marking, appropriate positioning and catheterisation
  • Anticipate specific consultant surgeon’s requirements before and during the procedure
  • Ensure the labelling of specimens is correct and documented as per policy
  • Help maintain accurate surgical patient records as per consultant preferences following EPIC training
  • Assist other team members to participate in the safe transferring and positioning of the patient
  • Adhere to appropriate safety precautions, as established within the theatres to minimize the risks of fire, explosion, electrical shock, contamination, accident and equipment malfunction
  • Other duties assigned
     

What we need from you?

  • Valid nursing registration through the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) or ODP registration through Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) required.  
  • MSc or PgDip in Surgical Care Practice
  • Experience in Robotics – Thoracic, Colo rectal, Gynae, Urology, HPB and or ENT
  • Experience in Heart, Vascular or Thoracic – 1st assisting cardiac cases, EVH and or ERAH (desirable)
  • Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) or endoscopic radial artery harvesting (ERAH) or Robotic Surgery skill set (desirable)
