Position Summary
NavSav is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Trust Accountant & Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team. This hybrid role is responsible for managing trust accounting functions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while also overseeing the company's accounts payable processes. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, a high level of integrity, and the ability to collaborate with multiple departments to maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely processing of transactions.

Key Responsibilities
Trust Accounting
Manage all trust account activity, including deposits, disbursements, and reconciliations.
Monitor balances and ensure compliance with state and industry regulations.
Maintain accurate records of client funds and company funds, ensuring no commingling occurs.
Prepare monthly reconciliations and reports for leadership review and external audits.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Accounts Payable
Process vendor invoices, verifying accuracy, coding, and approvals.
Ensure timely payments in accordance with vendor terms and company policies.
Maintain organized vendor files, contracts, and W-9 documentation.
Monitor recurring expenses and escalate items for cancellation or review when necessary.
Collaborate with department heads to validate expense allocations and coding accuracy.
General Duties
Support month-end and year-end close processes by preparing schedules and reconciliations.
Assist with internal and external audit requests.
Contribute to improving and documenting accounting processes, controls, and procedures.
Partner with leadership, commissions, and operations teams to ensure smooth financial workflows.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered).
3+ years of accounting experience, with specific exposure to trust accounting and/or accounts payable.
Experience in insurance, legal, or financial services industries with trust accounting requirements (preferred).
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or equivalent); experience with Applied Epic a plus.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and trust accounting regulations.
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliations.
Familiarity with electronic payment systems and AP automation tools.
High attention to detail with excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
