Summary Description
This role is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of complex cross-functional projects utilizing a team of project managers located in Cincinnati and Chorley, UK. This role ensures alignment with business objectives, drives operational excellence, and fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across project teams. Projects that are supported by the Project management team include New Product Launches, Cost Down Projects, and supporting introduction of new sku’s of existing products and/or changes to existing sku’s. The role will oversee costs, strategies, and staffing of the team to ensure business objectives are met. The Associate Director of Project Management must have a keen ability to assess risk and engage cross functionally to minimize that risk. Responsibility will be inclusive of training and development of the team and inspiring the team to manage thru the numerous challenges that they will be encountered. The role is responsible for evaluating and implementing new processes and tools to ensure communication, execution, and efficiency. Lastly, this role is responsible for creating strategy and yearly critical priorities for the team.
What will your day look like?
- Develop departmental strategy. Link and communicate corporate strategy to activities of the team.
- Manage budget and staffing.
- Address risk with leadership and provide recommendations on how to overcome.
- Development and adherence of KPIs.
- Build relationships with partners across functions to minimize silo mentality and harness collective performance.
- Lead Business Team Steering Committee and NPD Management Meeting via staff
- This position has direct supervisory responsibilities, serving as a coach and mentor to ensure subordinates are practicing consistent project management processes and methods.
- Manage and direct the work of cross-functional project teams (indirect reports) for highly advanced and complex projects.
- Lead project teams and facilitate the communication and interaction among cross functional representatives.
- Define and enhance project management controls, (processes, procedures, reporting, etc.) to align with needs of the business.
- Monitor portfolio progress to ensure milestones are being met across various projects.
- Track portfolio against the Master Plan schedule, budget, and against gate review objectives, reporting status up the organization on a regular basis.
- Coordinate the integration of new products into current business platforms.
- Other duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications
What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering or an applied science (Master’s or MBA preferred).
- 10+ year’s experience in project management with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
- Microsoft Project or similar PM system experience required. Must be at an intermediate or advanced level to be considered.
- Oracle experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of internal and external processes.
- Sound organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail and technically oriented Individual.
- Goal oriented, confident, outgoing, self starter, curious, growth mindset focused and able to work well under pressure to succeed within a competitive environment.
