Job Summary

The Quality Manager for the Fabrication Department is responsible for developing and maintaining a robust quality program that ensures compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations. This role oversees quality activities for both internal operations and external processors (OSP), serving as the key liaison between OEM and OSP quality departments. The Quality Manager drives continuous improvement, manages onboarding and audits of OSPs, and ensures the successful execution of quality processes such as APQP, PPAP, and 8Ds.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

Quality Program & Documentation

  • Create, implement, and maintain the Fabrication Department’s Quality Program.
  • Develop and manage the Quality Manual specifically for Outside Processors (OSP).
  • Ensure documentation aligns with OEM requirements and industry standards (e.g., ISO, AS, or TS) standards where applicable.

OSP/Management

  • Manage onboarding and qualification of new OSPs from a quality perspective.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between OEM and OSP quality departments.
  • Conduct regular OSP quality audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Maintain and report OSP performance using scorecards and KPIs.

Quality Processes

  • Oversee and manage the First Article Inspection (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Lead and coordinate 8D and corrective action processes with OSPs and internal teams.
  • Manage the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process for new and existing products.
  • Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements and regulatory standards.

Inspection & Compliance

  • Supervise inspection activities for fabricated components and assemblies.
  • Ensure calibration and certification of inspection tools and equipment.
  • Support internal and external audits, including OEM, OSP and regulatory inspections.
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends and drive improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of quality and accountability throughout the fabrication team.
  • Train and mentor staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.

This is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor on or around heavy machinery.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years’ experience in Quality Assurance/Control
  • Experience in TQM, ISO/QS 9000 ISO Assessor Certification, SPC
  • Understanding of multiple fabrication services and disciplines
  • Travel required to OSP/OEM Sites
  • Experience in auditing processes and processors
  • Meets TKMNA employee attributes and competencies

Preferred Requirements:

  • ASQ certification
  • ISO Lead Assessor Certification
  • 5 years plus Quality Assurance/Control experience.
  • 3 years management experience, leadership and team building training
  • Training in strategic planning and motivation
