Diesel Mechanic – Senior
The Senior Mechanic is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of heavy equipment, with a focus on Large Forklifts, and Trucks. In this position we must have strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of heavy equipment operation and repair in accordance with factory and industry standards
DIESEL MECHANIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role in automotive repair
- Diesel Mechanic Certification preferred
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on heavy equipment including 20K Forklifts, dozers, excavators, and off-road trucks
- Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours and weekends (normal schedule: 45 hrs)
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- Stable work history
- Reliable transportation
- Committed to working safely at all times including a commitment to the policies and procedures of the operation
- Positive attitude; good team player
- Knowledge of Diesel Engine and Hydraulic System diagnostics and preventive maintenance
- Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
- Experienced in heavy diesel engine diagnostics and repairs
Qualifications
DIESEL MECHANIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains inventory of replacement parts, tools, and equipment required for operations.
- Ensures preventative maintenance and repairs meet all quality and safety standards
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
- Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
- Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment in order to diagnose defects.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs.
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
- Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment, and keep equipment service records.
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
- Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies, such as transmissions and crawler heads, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes.
- Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, using control and regulating devices.
- Observe all safety precautions and wear appropriate PPE at all times
- Any other duties as requested by respective supervisor and/or manager
DIESEL MECHANIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and frequently exert 100 lbs. of force to push, and pull or otherwise move objects
- Work involves long periods of standing, squatting, bending, twisting and reaching; may also include climbing
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions – heat, cold, rain
- Good manual dexterity, including the ability to make precise finger movements and the ability to keep arms and hands steady.
