Anne Arundel Dermatology is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our pathology lab as a Lab Aide/Technician within our Academic Alliance in Dermatology practice. This role is ideal for candidates with a Bachelor of Science degree who are preparing for medical school and looking to gain hands-on experience in a clinical laboratory setting. The Lab Aide/Technician will provide direct support to our pathologists by assisting with specimen grossing and dictation, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in specimen handling and documentation.

Responsibilities:- Assist with specimen grossing, including handling, measuring, labeling, and preparing tissue samples for processing
- Document and transcribe pathologist dictations during specimen gross examination
- Maintain accurate specimen logs and ensure all documentation is complete and compliant
- Support the daily operations of the pathology lab, including specimen intake, organization, and storage
- Assist with inventory management and maintaining a clean, safe, and stocked laboratory environment
- Collaborate with pathologists, histotechnicians, and other team members to ensure smooth lab workflow
Bachelor of Science degree required (Biology, Chemistry, or related science field preferred)
- Minimum of 24 completed credit hours in science courses (biology, chemistry, anatomy, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and ability to work as part of a team
- Interest in medicine, pathology, or laboratory sciences; ideal for candidates taking a gap year before medical school
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or administrative role preferred.
- Bachelor of Science degree required (Biology, Chemistry, or related science field preferred)
- Minimum of 24 completed credit hours in science courses (biology, chemistry, anatomy, etc.)
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
