Position Summary:
The Pre-Owned Vehicle Manager supports the Used Cars operation by overseeing the trade in, reconditioning and selling process of all aspects of used vehicles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee the Pre-Owned Platform Coordinator
- Facilitate new vehicle sales by enabling customers to trade their current vehicles
- Offer an appropriate purchase alternative for customers who prefer to purchase a Certified Used Vehicle or other used vehicle from one of the Dalton Corporation Dealerships, or who cannot afford a new vehicle purchase or lease
- Attract customers to the dealership through effective and appropriate advertising and merchandising of quality Certified Used Vehicles from one of the Dalton Corporation Dealerships and other used vehicles
- Provide an outlet for the sale of used or off-lease Dalton Corporation vehicles traded or returned to the dealership
- Acquire used vehicles for the dealership that reflect market demand, dealership goals and the Dalton Corporation image
- Manage the reconditioning, wholesaling and inventory of used vehicles
- Price used vehicles based on market conditions and dealership goals
- Attend pertinent training and stay current with sales department concerns and sales techniques.
- Ensure that factory certification standards are maintained and also inventory is updated and finalized.
- Run Sales / Trade report daily to maximize the efficiency of the used car department and make recommendations on how to improve the sales department.
- Review the decisions from the pre-owned platform coordinator on body and cosmetic work and redirect when needed
- Drive used cars, as needed to properly access the vehicle condition for trade ins and make recommendations for reconciliation.
- Clear any used car trades with the Finance Director, prep vehicle for reconditioning; meet with Finance Director on any pending used car DMV deals.
- Oversee the process to certify inventory.
- Unwind any Dalton Corporation certified units and re-certify them.
- RDR all sold Dalton Corporation inventory, post warranty on all incoming inventory (Bline, Century, Value, etc., create an inventory file, create jackets with Carfax, buyers’ guides, and service R.O.’s, email Xcite a list of all incoming inventory to create window stickers, run KSR, NVITUS, Carfax, Auto Check on used car inventory, as a back up to the Pre-Owned Platform Manager.
- Use Axcessa to check wholesale accounting receivables, and title tracking.
- Oversee the private party purchases, ground lease returns process and purchasing of lease returns, private party vehicles, rental units.
- Lead the auction process for wholesale vehicles, including overseeing the sale of wholesale vehicles to all auctions.
- Effectively use the computerized inventory control system, keeping it current and meeting net profit goals.
- Be polite and friendly and greet customers promptly. Consistently follow the outlined sales process.
- Deal with escalated customer complaints in a sensible manner by showing empathy and a pleasant attitude to show our commitment to excellent customer service and to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- May perform other duties as assigned by ownership, upper management and/or immediate supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, and train department staff.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
- Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
- Manage discipline and termination of employees in alignment with company policies.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Experience, Education, or Skills Required:
- Must have minimum 5 years’ automotive industry experience including:
- DMV experience relating to trade’s knowledge of DMV rules.
- Knowledge of cosmetic’s/bodyshop vehicles needing fixes.
- Ability to determine work needed to resale vehicle.
- Experience with Auctions
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; and ability to work in team environment.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Possess the energy and drive to accomplish goals, meet deadlines and find solutions.
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Must have the ability to compose clear and concise correspondence regarding the relevant subject matter.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel and DMS software experience.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Reynolds and Reynolds experience
