POSITION SUMMARY
Benedictine College invites applications from professionals within the field of sports management or administration for a full-time faculty position within the department of Health, Wellness, and Exercise Science at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank (depending on experience) starting with the Fall 2026 semester.

In keeping with Benedictine College mission, the Health, Wellness, and Exercise Science department is dedicated to and focused on the development of the whole student: physically, mentally, and spiritually. The department provides high quality education and career preparation by forming dynamic professional relationships with all their students, both in learning theory and providing practical application of material. The department currently consists of four full-time faculty members that support three academic majors: Exercise Science, Strength and Conditioning, and Athletic Healthcare. The new faculty member will be responsible for the current Sports Management track under the Exercise Science major.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The new faculty member will be responsible for the current Sports Management track under the Exercise Science major. Responsibilities may include:
- Planning and implementation of 12 credits of program-specific and/or departmental core courses per academic semester
- Identification and cultivation of partnerships with businesses and organizations in the sport industry
- Updating current sports management curriculum
- Collaboration with faculty in the School of Business and the department of Journalism and Mass Communication
- Academic advising of department majors and minors
- Engagement in appropriate faculty service at the departmental and college level
Requirements
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will be expected to work extensively with the department chair developing the Sport Management concentration to meet the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) standards. This concentration will contribute substantially to the future development of the department. In addition to this contribution, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses related to sport management (e.g., Sport Psychology, Organization and Administration of Exercise Science and Sport, Sports Management Practicum) and courses considered core to the department of Health, Wellness, and Exercise Science (i.e., Wellness for Life, Foundations of Human Movement, physical activity fitness courses). In keeping with the mission of Benedictine College, the successful candidate will be expected to exemplify the integration of the Catholic faith with the sports management profession and development of the whole person. The following qualifications are highly preferred:
Minimum Qualifications
- Earned master's degree in sport management or a closely related field
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in sports management
Preferred Qualifications
- Terminal degree in sport management or a closely related field
- Teaching experience at the college/university level
- Evidence of collaboration and partnership with businesses and organizations in the sport industry
- Evidence of experience working with collegiate athletics
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)
