Lead Proposition Innovation In Retail and Consumer Goods
dunnhumby is seeking a commercially driven and visionary Head of Proposition Development to lead the creation, testing, and scaling of new B2B digital propositions that deliver measurable impact for retailers, consumer goods companies, and their customers. This is a senior leadership role focused on shaping the future of our most transformational initiatives, with a strong connection to product strategy and service development.
What You’ll Do
- Understand the strategies of, and dynamics between, retailers and Consumer Packaged Goods companies (CPGs), and use this insight combined with industry and technology trends to shape compelling new propositions that will help our clients to grow
- Develop new customer value propositions, spanning product development, services and consulting. Lead the thinking from opportunity identification through to market validation and scaling plans
- Evaluate and prioritise new propositions and initiatives based on commercial potential, strategic alignment, and execution feasibility
- Determine how to deliver propositions with the right combination of product, data science services and consulting
- Collaborate with product, technology, data science, and commercial teams to ensure propositions are delivered in scalable ways
- Champion a culture of experimentation, insight-led decision-making, and client-centric design thinking
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across dunnhumby and externally, acting as a thought leader in proposition strategy
- Constantly challenge the current set of propositions, to grow the value we deliver to clients every year, and to improve the way we deliver the value
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in retail or consumer packaged goods (CPG), with a strong understanding of retailer-manufacturer relationships and customer behaviour
- Outstanding problem-solving skills, likely demonstrated through proven success in strategic management consultancy.
- Understanding of the economics of retail, and how customer data can be used to improve retailer economics
- Customer-centric approach, able to translate client needs into motivating and economically viable propositions and actionable service designs
- Familiarity with Design Thinking approaches, and how to apply this to proposition design and product delivery
- Track record of leading cross-functional teams and engaging C-level stakeholders
- Skilled in using data, research, and market insight to inform strategic decisions
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and influence across all levels, as well as lead/manage through ambiguity
