Major/Essential Functions
- Attend high-risk deliveries, provide initial resuscitation interventions for neonates of all ages, physical examination, and antenatal counseling. Current NRP and BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross are required.
- Performs a complete neonatal physical examination and assessment. Distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings. Elicits records and interprets a complete health history including all obstetrical, past medical, family, and psychosocial aspects.
- Writes admissions, discharges and medication orders with co-signatures.
- Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as necessary.
- Formulates care plan based on physical exam or other data and implements plan.
- Consults with attending or Resident Physicians prior to initiation of major procedure or plan.
- May be responsible for attending Labor & Delivery for consults, vaginal delive1ies and C-sections.
- Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.
- Adhere to all TIUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.
- Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with ITUHSCEP's values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.

Required Qualifications
- Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program; current RN license in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer your license to Texas.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the appropriate nursing specialty from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Recognition by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advance Practitioner.
- Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification required Advanced Practice Nurse Licensed in the State of Texas or Compact State Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior or upon hire required BLS, PALS, and NRP by the American Heart Association are required.
- Master's degree or Doctorate from an accredited Nursing Program is preferred
