Position Description
Provides advanced professional services related to diagnosis and treatment of inmate patients. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Work is performed in a correctional institution with contact with inmates. Deadlines, interruptions, meetings, and travel necessary. Additionally, work requires collaboration with the faculty and staff at TTUHSC.

Major/Essential Functions
- Provides direct patient care to include chronic, and urgent healthcare to incarcerated patients
- Effective and timely documentation in the EHR
- On-call coverage: Provides after-hours consultation and direction for urgent medical decisions for on-site clinical teams
- APP Supervision: Provides oversight, guidance, and chart review for APPs.
- Effective collaboration and communication
- Attends Treatment Team meetings as scheduled and as needed. Attends administrative and clinical committee meetings as needed

Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years' experience performing primary ambulatory medical care, including patient examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic imaging (e.g., X-rays) and lab tests.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately diagnose and develop treatment plans for at least 100+ patients per year in outpatient or urgent care settings.
- Proven clinical competency in orthopedics, general medicine, and emergency medicine, with documented continuing education or CME credits (≥ 20 hours/year) in at least one of these areas.
- Proficiency in minor clinical procedures, such as wound suturing, joint injections, splinting, and incision and drainage, with at least 50 procedures completed annually.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, with documentation of successful renewal within the past 2 years.
