Summary of Position:
The Assistant Principal of K-8 Online Learning leads virtual education initiatives for grades K-8, ensuring excellence in online instruction and comprehensive student support. This position advances our mission to provide flexible, customized learning solutions tailored to elementary and middle school students' unique developmental and educational needs.
Combining educational leadership, technological expertise, and strategic vision, the Assistant Principal will create engaging, standards-aligned, and holistic online learning experiences that foster foundational academic success and social-emotional development. Working within a dynamic virtual academy environment, this role requires deep expertise in K-8 online learning frameworks, data-driven decision-making, and comprehensive stakeholder engagement to promote student achievement and readiness for future academic success.
Essential Duties and Program/Budget Responsibilities:
- Lead K–12 virtual education programs in alignment with BVA’s mission and vision.
- Supervise and support a team of leaders and educators, including 2 Assistant Principals, department heads, and 48 teachers.
- Oversee and manage a combined $21.8M budget (direct and indirect).
- Develop and implement data-driven, innovative online learning models and instructional practices.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local education regulations.
- Design and oversee rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum, including AP, dual enrollment, credit recovery, and CTE offerings.
- Implement and monitor best-practice instructional frameworks (QM, NSQ, UDL, MTSS, PBIS).
- Promote and scale competency-based, mastery learning models.
- Use learning analytics to personalize instruction and improve student engagement and achievement.
- Lead professional development, PLCs, and educator evaluation using the Danielson Framework.
- Support educator recruitment, supervision, and retention in a virtual environment.
- Oversee student onboarding, academic progress monitoring, and graduation tracking.
- Provide oversight for Special Education, multilingual learners, SEL supports, and NCAA compliance.
- Foster strong family, district, and community partnerships through regular communication and engagement.
- Collaborate with IT and Operations to ensure a high-quality virtual infrastructure and learning experience.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Pennsylvania Principal Certification
- Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field, Doctorate preferred
- Minimum 6 years of teaching experience, with K-8 online teaching preferred
- Demonstrated success in online program leadership at the K-8 school level
- Proven expertise in K-8 online learning environments
- Advanced proficiency in learning management systems and educational technology
- Deep understanding of K-8 education frameworks and college/career readiness standards
- Comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of state and federal laws and guidelines for K-12 education.
- Experience in the design and delivery of online courses both synchronously and asynchronously
- Technical experience required includes state and federal education law, staff development, supervision and leadership, special education budget development and management, curriculum and assessment, and interagency collaboration.
- Specialized training in instructional technology- preferred
- Specialized training in online teaching and learning- preferred
- Prior success in creating evidenced based and fiscally sound programs for online learning- preferred
- Prior success in creating social engagement programs and support services for online learning- preferred
Salary Range: Administrators, Level G
2025-26 school year: $101,857- $127,321
* Placement on band is based on years of direct experience in a comparable role.
260 day position, 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week
