Job Summary: 

Monitor Metronet Business’ production network to ensure its integrity, health, and stability. They will recommend improvements to surveillance systems as needed and collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and facility providers to resolve infrastructure issues.

What you will be doing: 

  • Monitor Core IP, Softswitch (MetaSwitch), Business networks (per contract commitments), and associated equipment to detect and respond to network-impacting events in a timely manner.
  • Perform fault analysis, isolation, remediation, and incident management across switching, digital, optical, transport, and other technologies; document all alerts and actions in required systems and tools.
  • Provide technical support and single point of contact duties for high-risk or service-impacting events; interface with customers, engineers, vendors, service partners, and ILEC technicians to resolve trouble reports.
  • Manage carrier-grade devices and networks, including change management, software/firmware upgrades, maintenance, recovery tactics, and hardware/configuration activities on IP, transport, and PON platforms (Cisco, Nokia, Juniper, etc.).
  • Operate in a 24x7x365 Network Operations Center with rotating shifts (including 2nd, 3rd, and weekends).
  • Maintain working knowledge of MetroNet Communications products/services and train other NOC, Repair, or Acceptance Specialists on processes and technologies as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What you need for this position: 

  • 3–5+ years of Telecom NOC experience, including 2–3 years collaborating with Carrier NOCs; Associate’s degree or higher (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • Cisco CCNA (or equivalent) certification a plus; strong oral/written communication skills and commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IP protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, Spanning Tree, ISIS) and platforms (Cisco, Nokia, Telabs, Adtran, Metaswitch VoIP/SIP Softswitch, Session Border Controller, etc.).
  • Skilled in troubleshooting Layer 1–3 faults using tools such as ping, traceroute, telnet, ssh, dig, and SNMP get.
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot LDP, VRF, VPN, L2TP, and SIP; strong understanding of SNMP traps/syslog messaging with fault analysis and response capabilities.
