Description
The EHS Coordinator is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance, employee well-being, and sustainable operations. This role will support manufacturing, R&D, and office environments, helping to uphold a culture of safety and environmental stewardship across the company.
Job Duties/Job Responsibilities:
Environmental Compliance & Sustainability
- Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, local air/water/waste regulations)
- Maintain and submit required environmental reports (e.g., hazardous waste, emissions)
- Support internal sustainability initiatives and reporting, including waste reduction and energy use tracking
- Coordinate recycling and hazardous materials handling programs
Health & Safety
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures aligned with OSHA and industry best practices
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Investigate injuries/accidents/incidents and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Maintain and update SDS records and chemical inventories
- Assist in the coordination of the workplace safety boot program
- Monitor employee exposure to hazardous materials and noise
Training & Communication
- Provide onboarding safety training and ongoing education for employees, contractors, and vendors
- Promote a safety-first culture through proactive communication, toolbox talks, and training sessions
- Support emergency response planning, including drills and preparedness programs
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, trainings, and compliance documentation
- Prepare regular reports and dashboards for leadership and regulatory bodies
- Track and analyze EHS performance metrics and KPIs to drive continuous improvement
Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in EHS roles, preferably in manufacturing or technology environments
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT)
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
- Experience in the automotive, electric vehicle, or clean tech industry
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, CHST, CSP, HAZWOPER)
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
- Experience with EHS software and digital compliance tools
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout manufacturing, lab, and office environments for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25–40 pounds occasionally (e.g., moving safety equipment, inspection tools, samples)
- Frequent bending, crouching, reaching, or climbing ladders to inspect equipment, storage areas, or confined spaces
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hard hats, gloves, respirators, or hearing protection as required
- Capable of working in varying environmental conditions, including hot/cold temperatures, noise, or exposure to dust, fumes, or chemicals in controlled settings
- Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations, which may require physical agility and calm decision-making under pressure
- Occasional travel between sites or facilities, depending on the scope of operations
Workplace Safety Requirements:
- Employee will be required to wear safety glasses and hearing protection while on the plant floor
- Protective footwear including steel toe or composite toe boots is also required to be on the production floor
