We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

The Electric Transmission System Operations Center is looking for an outage coordinator to facilitate the complex work sequences between the various projects in congested areas of the system. The electric transmission system is currently experiencing unprecedented growth. The system is expected to double in capacity served in the next 10-15 years. The majority of these new loads will be connected in regions where the grid will need to be expanded simultaneously while serving both existing and newly connected customers. These customers have high expectations for connections and cannot tolerate continued delays in construction. This individual will consolidate work outages, organize project schedules, and facilitate outage sequences to maximize construction activities. For long-term (planned) outages, the incumbent will be developing and coordinating outage sequences with ET Project Managers, as well as coordinating and working with PJM on outage reliability sequencing and outage coordination. This role effectively interfaces with all stakeholders such as System Operators, ET Construction and Operations, PJM outage schedulers, ET Project Managers, Generation Operators, Electric Cooperatives, Interconnected companies, as well as the Regional Operations Centers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Minimum of 10+ years directly related electric transmission experience
  • 7+ years of experience in Transmission and/or Distribution Operations strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of capital transmission work construction methods
  • Knowledge of transmission Line and Substation Operations and Maintenance procedures and designs to facilitate temporary designs
  • Demonstrated record of safe operating practices
  • Ability to travel to all regions of the system and operate safely in those environments
  • Knowledge of SOC clearances and tagging procedures
  • Strong communication skills including written, oral, and presentations
  • Full knowledge of electrical theory
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (specifically technical procedure documentation)
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a diverse team environment
  • Knowledge of transmission protection and islanding schemes is a plus

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education
