The Arc of Litchfield County, Inc. (Larc), is seeking professional, kind, caring, creative, and energetic Assistant House Managers to assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live full and happy lives. Spend your days positively enhancing the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing support in every aspect of their lives.

 

Whether it is a vocational/day program, or a home setting (group home and in-home setting), you can make a difference. Create fun and innovative activities to share with supported individuals. The DSP position is hands-on. You will provide personal care including personal hygiene, food preparation, transportation, and recreational activities, such as going to the movies, shopping, concerts, dining out, etc. All at no cost to you, you get paid to help the people you support HAVE FUN!

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Assist the House Manager with interviewing, hiring and training employees.  Planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems with consultation of the House manager.

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE


QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

  • The Assistant Manager shall have a minimum of an associate degree and 2-years manager/leadership experience with 1-year on the job experience OR at least 3-years leadership/managerial experience with at least 2-years of on the job experience OR at least 5-years on the job experience in a group home setting.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule; including at different sites and programs as needed. 
  • Ability to maintain assigned work hours.
  • Must maintain all LARC required and State mandated training certifications and re-certifications. (Must coordinate with manager in a timely manner as re-certifications come due to avoid lapses in certifications.)
  • Must be able to become med certified.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The Assistant Manager shall have essential physical skills: be able to run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, be able to lift at least 50 pounds (or ¼ own body weight), push/pull against potential resistance, and be able to implement non-physical and physical interventions and CPR with individuals supported when needed.
  • The Assistant Manager shall have adequate vision, reading, writing, and documentation skills, and hearing to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • The Assistant Manager must have sufficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time.
  • The Assistant Manager will be engaged in speaking, sitting, walking, driving, listening, and in communicating both orally and in writing while performing his or her duties.
  • The employee must be able to listen and respond to questions and instructions.
