Job Description: Set Painter – High School Fall Play
Position: Set Painter
Reports To: Director / Set Designer
Overview:
The Set Painter will work closely with the Set Builder to paint and finish props and set pieces for the high school musical. This role is essential in bringing the production’s visual elements to life through artistic painting techniques and scenic finishes.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Set Builder and production team to achieve the desired look for the set.
- Mix and apply paints, stains, and finishes to props and set pieces.
- Use various painting techniques (e.g., dry brushing, sponging, distressing) to create textures and effects.
- Ensure consistency in color schemes and design elements.
- Work within the production timeline to complete painting tasks on schedule.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of painting techniques and color mixing.
- Ability to work with a team and follow artistic direction.
- Attention to detail and creativity.
- Prior experience in scenic painting or stage production (preferred but not required).
Compliance and Supervision
- Support adherence to school and district policies, safety standards, and ASB regulations.
- Assist with building access, supervision, and closing facilities during rehearsals and performances.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Completion of required district trainings (Blood Borne Pathogen, Sexual Harassment, etc.).
Qualifications
- Knowledge of theatre production processes.
- Familiarity with stage management, technical theatre, or event coordination preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work positively with students, staff, parents, and community volunteers.
- Commitment to supporting a student-centered, inclusive production environment.
