Job Summary:

The Director of Strategy – Federal Markets is responsible for leading strategic growth initiatives across federal sectors, including supporting business development, client engagement, and market positioning. This role drives pre-proposal strategy, proposal development, and federal client relationship management. The Director will collaborate across business units to align federal pursuits with organizational goals, lead cross-functional teams, and represent the firm in key industry and government forums. This position plays a critical role in shaping the firm’s federal market strategy and expanding its presence in targeted agencies and programs. While occasional travel may be required, the position will be based in one of our 3 primary North Carolina offices: Raleigh, Wilmington or Charlotte.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic planning and relationship development efforts in the federal market, including opportunity identification & research, developing formal capture plans, and driving prepositioning efforts.
  • Cultivate and develop client retention strategies with key federal clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (BD, technical, operations, legal) to align federal pursuits with corporate strategy.
  • Create and develop strategies for core capabilities across the firm into current federal contracts.
  • Represent the firm at federal industry events, conferences, and agency meetings. Develop strategies and thematic exhibitions at these events.
  • Work closely with the marketing team and technical/production leads during the development of federal proposals, driving win themes, sharing market intelligence and sharing preposition and market intelligence.
  • Monitor federal policy, funding trends, and procurement forecasts to inform strategic decisions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in pursuit of major federal contracts and IDIQs.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on pipeline, pursuits, and strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate strategic implementation with technical/production leads, driving actionable items ahead of procurement schedules.
  • Promote the firm’s capabilities and differentiators in federal markets through thought leadership and targeted outreach.
  • Support internal training and mentoring on federal market strategy and best practices.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Science, Geography, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
