Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for performing several activities within the accounting function, particularly relating to the monthly close, financial statement generation and analysis. The Senior Accountant prepares several journal entries during the close, assists with the annual financial audit, rebate accounting, fixed asset accounting, and maintains account reconciliations for various accounts. The position ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of financial information while also ensuring that adequate internal controls are in place and operating effectively. 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform accounting duties related to month-end close, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations, ensuring strict compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting schedules.
  • Perform daily/monthly bank reconciliations on multiple accounts
  • Proactively identify issues, drive continuous improvement, and optimize and automate processes/systems.
  • Upholds internal controls and recommends improvements to existing controls
  • Work closely with various teams throughout the company, including Legal, Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Procurement, to solve complex problems.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field required  
  • CPA or MBA desired, including solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • 2-3+ years accounting experience required with 1-2 years of external audit experience preferred
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to communicate findings clearly and effectively
  • Demonstrated strong computer aptitude, including high level of expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as accounting systems software – knowledge or prior experience with Salesforce/FinancialForce a plus. 
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently and in collaboration with others, while managing multiple projects to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
