We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate at UL Research Institutes. The Research Associate will contribute to research projects under the guidance of IREE leadership. Responsibilities include literature reviews, data collection and analysis, experimental design, and collaborative efforts within the research team. The Research Associate will be responsible for supporting IREE’s sponsored research program and study related to youth and climate change education.
This is a remote position that will require travel and virtual collaboration with team members in multiple time zones.

IREE:
The Institute of Research Experiences and Education (IREE) cultivates the next generation of safety scientists through a mix of unique educational programs, academic partnerships, and research and standards development experiences.
We translate the findings of our research institutes into compelling educational materials, bringing to life scientific concepts using contemporary best education practices to create learning opportunities for a wide variety of secondary through postgraduate students. Our academic collaborations and support for
the next generation of safety scientists likewise reach across the educational spectrum, including partnerships that reach out to students who are underrepresented in STEM fields.
Through all of our programs, we aim to unlock the diverse perspectives that are essential for solving the world’s most pressing safety and sustainability issues.
What you’ll learn and achieve:
As the Research Associate, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:
Support portfolio of research projects including study of internship experiences for emerging STEM professionals, climate change education, digital safety and educators, research and practice integration, and the ULRI sponsored research program.
Conduct literature reviews to inform research projects.
Assist in designing and implementing experiments or studies.
Collect and analyze data using appropriate methods and tools.
Collaborate with research program leadership and stakeholders on ongoing projects.
Prepare and present research findings at conferences or in academic settings.
Contribute to the development of research papers, proposals and grant applications.
Support the development of IREE research programming for the annual ULRI Research Symposium.
Support for IREE interns and fellows working on Research & Evaluation projects.
Perform other duties as directed.

Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:
Bachelor’s degree in education research, STEM education research, or a related field.
Strong academic record and coursework in the field of study.
Prior research experience, preferably in education research.
Proficiency in relevant research tools and methodologies.
