About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
Amentum are currently recruiting a CDM Adviser who will be required to support the Client Principal Designer (PD) Duty Holder on a major design and construction project, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, and providing leadership on the deployment of the CDM2015 Principal Designer duties. Key responsibilities will be:
- Good understanding of the CDM regulations and their application to civil engineering projects
- Positive collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, to help plan and coordinate health and safety during the pre-construction phase
- Facilitating/supporting design reviews to ensure the identification of health & safety hazards, ensuring that appropriate mitigations are enacted before construction takes place
- Advising on pre-construction information collation and communication
- Promoting relevant good practice and ensuring all activities comply with the CDM Regulations 2015
- Attending meetings with our project managers and engineers, offering advice on risk
- Staying up to date with relevant legislation and wider learning from other industries
- Being the safety conscience of the Principal Designer; working alongside other duty holders as required
Qualifications
- Relevant civil engineering/construction qualification
- Experience in tunnelling/marine/roads/utilities or operational buildings an advantage
- Experience of applying CDM in a large project environment
- Experience of working in a highly regulated industry (preferred)
- Attained or be working towards a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- A good understanding of risk management and hazard identification processes
- Excellent communication skills
- A flexible and versatile ‘can do’ approach, and be unafraid to think outside the box
