PRESIDENTEASTERN MAINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
The Board of Trustees of the Maine Community College System invites applications and nominations for the position of President of Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC) located in Bangor Maine in part of Penobscot County. EMCC currently serves over 2,000 technical, career and transfer students annually at the Bangor campus and the Katahdin Higher Education Center in East Millinocket and provides non-credit and short-term workforce training to an additional 1500 students in support of business needs throughout the state of Maine. EMCC is fully accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education and is part of Maine’s seven-member community college system.
As a priority, the Board of Trustees seeks a President who has the ability, commitment, and vision to continue the college’s commitment to enhancing student success and delivering high-quality technical, career and transfer education and training. The Board also seeks a President who can lead EMCC during a period of changing student demographics and as the college expands its role in economic and workforce development. The President has the responsibility of institutional leadership, long-term planning, and fostering an environment that is conducive to learning.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of experiential based education and training, strategic planning, and communication, as well as success in team building and participatory management. Candidates must demonstrate experience with shared governance and collaboration and have an understanding of the community college environment. Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they are an innovative leader and have experience engaging in transparent communication. Candidates must understand the role of the College in economic development and play a leadership role in promoting opportunities in the region. A combination of administrative, teaching, or management experience, coupled with a proven leadership record to include fiscal and facilities management is required. Candidates must possess a master’s degree; candidates with a doctoral degree are preferred.
